COLORADO

by John Evicci

In September 2007, Mark & I went to Colorado to attend the wedding of friends Rich & Mona who recently moved there from Massachusetts. While there, we capitalized on the opportunity to visit the namesake of one of our favorite shows, South Park, and during the process, see as much of the beautiful Rocky Mountains as our limited time would allow, following a course suggested to us by the bride-to-be. No journal here as it was a pretty quick, straightforward trip. Just wanted to share the photos. Enjoy!

All pictures by me unless otherwise noted.

On the way to Red Rocks

Red Rocks

In case you don't know, Red Rocks is a natural amphitheater just outside of Denver set amongst some truly amazing rock formations. Unfortunately we couldn't get in because they were setting up for a concert later that night, but what little we did see was incredible.

Heading south into the mountains

South Park!

Not so much a town, but more a region. A sort of broad plain set in the middle of the mountains. As you can see here, very pastoral and picturesque.

We try to find a sign similar to the one in the show but this is the closest we could get

The most notable thing we saw there was South Park City, a restored 1880s town. This was a museum of sorts with a collection of old buildings depicting life in the 1880s. We didn't check it out, though. Just looked around.

Various sights around town

This was the ONLY place we saw that had any reference to the show
